What If I Told You I Was A Teacher

What if I told you I was a Teacher

What if

What if I told you that I treat each student and athlete as if they were my own children

What if

What if I told you that my expectation for my students & athletes is that they must respect others opinions — even when they differ from their own

What if

What if I told you that I use an activity called Philosophical Chairs where the goal is NOT to crush opposing opinions, but rather to earn respect & acceptance through calm & sound logic & reasoning

What if

What if I told you that I teach more than just my content area

What if

What if I told you that I teach proper thought process & success principles & share life lessons with my students & athletes

What if

What if I told you that I motivate young people to go ahead & Dream Big

What if

What if I told you that my heart aches when I see young people quit

What if

What if I told you that I am the one who listens non-judgmentally & wipes away the tears triggered by various life challenges

What if

What if I told you that I teach my students & athletes that it IS ok to fail, as long as they learn from their failure in order to improve the next time around

What if

What if I told you that I teach my students & athletes to never project their own fears & doubts onto other people

What if

What if I told you that I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of my students, athletes, & colleagues — even if others do not feel the same way

What if

What if in 2018 we stop being so polarizing by pressuring our family, friends, & colleagues to pick the same side of a disagreement we are on, or risk being ostracized, or “unfriended” just because ….?

WHAT IF ???

Coach Pabon

Sam “Coach” Pabon was born and raised in The Bronx, and has been coaching, training, and/or speaking since he was 17 years old. At the age of 23, he joined the U.S. Navy. In less than seven years, Coach Pabon had been promoted through the ranks to that of an E-6, Petty Officer First Class. Due to a family emergency, he separated with an Honorable Discharge, and then went to work as a civilian contractor at the United States Army Intelligence & Security Command (INSCOM) working in the Cyber Intelligence/Cyber Security arena for several years. In 2011, Coach Pabon shifted gears to pursue a career in education by becoming a high school teacher and athletic coach. He excelled in both endeavors – receiving “Highly Effective” ratings, and being voted as Head Coach of the Year by his peers. In 2018, Coach Pabon decided to return to the corporate world where he coaches Fortune 500 sales executives from different industries on how to best leverage quantitative and qualitative research to inform their strategies, and execute in alignment with their organization’s mission critical priorities. He is now focused on sharing his experiences to help others face life’s challenges, to be able to adapt and overcome those various challenges, and to successfully redefine their paths in the world when necessary. Always having a soft-spot for his education colleagues, Coach Pabon helps educators connect with at-risk students so they can build mutual trust in order to help students get back on track to graduate.
